Autoland, officially the Republic of Autoland, is an island country in the continent of Nerpica, located in the Grass World. It was first settled in the 1920s, and after a boom in population came urban sprawl. This harsh suburban environment is subject to change, however, as local urban planners and environmental activists are willing to reform all of the island's cities to make them walkable and livable.

Etymology

The name "Autoland" comes from automobile, a synonym for cars. Despite this, it is only an exonym.

Autoland is home to the Zugish sea lion (Zalophus zuglandensis), the country's native pinniped species.

Demographics

Languages

The Autoish people speak the Autolandic dialect of the Urbanican language, one of the Zugic languages. The Zugic languages are a closely-related family of three languages native to the group of outlying Nerpican islands Autoland belongs to. Interestingly enough, the Autolandic dialect could branch out in the coming decades, establishing itself as the fourth Zugic language.

Transport

Much like the Brazilian capital of Brasília, Autoland is car-centric, and thus, most of Autoland's transport is done by car. There is a bus system in the capital, however.
