Nurse Cap

Even if the mirror is a real thing, the original journal was fictional, just inspired by the real mirror! I mean, um, look at that thing, it's creepy... I can see where the inspiration comes from...
Nurse Cap spins her entire body to deliver a ferocious kick, blue light surrounding her leg, and just as soon as her attack was to make contact with her target, she's interrupted by the familiar sound of Beatrice's red, her blow stopped by a wall of magic as red as the witch's words.

Beatrice

Melia truly thought themselves saved by the mirror!

Beatrice

Close one huh, Nurse Cap?! Even though it's such a simple attack, it would've proved troublesome for any other careless witch!
Nurse Cap creates distance from the witch with a jump, forced to think before her next attack. She takes a moment to gather her thoughts, hand to the ground, staring at Beatrice fiercely.

Nurse Cap

........................
Forcing herself to make a move, Nurse Cap attempts to strike the witch's magic wall with her elbow. A low blow in an attempt to force an opening... There's no limit of how much blue she gets to use, after all.

Nurse Cap

It's possible, for a lot of reasons, for someone to believe something that is not necessarily true in someone else's view. So, um, a "curse" could be the only way their mind could interpret mental distress.
Beatrice grits her teeth, the blow doing visible damage to her shield of red! Nurse Cap seemed surprised, though Beatrice only seemed annoyed... but Nurse Cap's expression quickly became one of self-preservative worry once she realized she had quickly given her opponent the perfect moment to strike back.

Beatrice

The author of the journal was not suffering from delusions in regards to the Magic Mirror and the curse that came before it.
The red wall seems to shake and Nurse Cap is pushed far back by an intense force.

Beatrice

Have you really got me to look forward to being your opponent just to throw out the most basic of guesses? Perhaps we should move onto something else so you can stand even the slightest chance before me?!
Having grown tired of being on the defense, Beatrice prepares an attack of her own, visualized as a massive golden lance forming above her out of beautiful gold butterflies.

Nurse Cap

FUCK THAT?!?!?!???!?!!??

Beatrice

Aaaahh, thiiiiiiss!!! This might be more your speeeeed!!!!! Merely five years ago, the same mirror possessed by Melia was to be transported to a museum until it suddenly disappeared before ever making it there! Assuming the mirror was thieved, neither the perpetrator nor the apparently stolen item were ever found!! The same mirror is now in your possession... What else could that be if not a witch taking what's rightfully hers back and bestowing a gift upon a person in dire need?!?!
Panicked, Nurse Cap looks to her left, then to her right, as if thinking of ways to buying time. Coming short of any ideas, she begins running from the witch and her attack.

Beatrice

Ooooh, defeated alreaaadyyy? That was only oneee red truth, you knoooow!! Does it really only take that much?!? You're this unprepared for taking on a witch's attack?!

Beatrice

*cackle*cackle*cackle*cackle*cackle*cackle* Wahahahahaha!! If I'd known, I wouldn't have taken on such a pathetic opponent! Clueless! Helpless!! Kyaaaaaaaaaahahahaaaa!!
Regardless of the Golden Witch's verbal barrage, the nurse keeps running and running, slowly losing her pace as her energy depletes. It only takes a single wrong step for the poor anxious paper hat to lose her footing and tumble to the ground. The world seems to slow, Nurse Cap staring defeat right in the eyes. The lance, which up to that point had only hovered above Beatrice menacingly, quickly launches itself Nurse Cap's way.

Beatrice

So long then!! This is <checkmate>!!!!
Breaking herself out of her paralysis, Nurse Cap extends an arm forward and summons a dim light of blue magic.

Nurse Cap

If the theft was, uh, performed from the inside, like, by one of the um, people responsible for, uh, transporting the mirror, they could probably do it ummm, fairly cleanly!! I think...
The blue is barely enough to stop the golden lance, though it shakes in place, as if about to pierce the thin veil of pathetic desperate magic.

Beatrice

*cackle*cackle*cackle* You really don't think the workers involved in taking care of the mirror were the first to be investigated?!
Crackles are heard, and the lance visibly inches closer to Nurse Cap. She's quick to realize the terrible position she's in, and pressed for any way forward through this red, realizes if she just found a way to break through Beatrice's first red truths none of this would matter... If she just broke the fantasy's foundation then all of it would come crumbling. But where to even begin with the witch's tricky red?

Nurse Cap

.................................... ... ...

NurseRealizationPAL

... Holy shit.
The blue magic suddenly turns much, much less puny, covering the entire lance which was formerly golden, its tip changing to a handle, its handle to a beautifully long blade. It was clear the lance had now become Nurse Cap's blue sword, its blade sharpened by the truth she had found.

Beatrice

Hohh? What's this? Are you ignoring my attack?

Nurse Cap

That wasnt a checkmate.

Beatrice

with all due respect i fail to see how that's relev—

Nurse Cap

You failed to notice I still have a valid move against your "checkmate." It was a check. A check I'm about to invalidate.
Nurse Cap runs towards the Golden Witch, blade pointed towards her. This is it, her final move. If this proves correct, it'll break the foundation of the witch's fantasy and leave nothing but a mystery, no, a mere riddle, in its place. Beatrice can't help but feel wary of the nurse's move, especially combined with her demeanor, for once carrying a weighty certainty to it.

Beatrice

Ah—
And before Beatrice could ever hope to react, Nurse Cap had already closed most of the distance between them, and she found herself about to be subjected to her confident blue.

Nurse Cap

█████ ██ ███ ███ ████ ██████ ██ ███ ██████.

Silence floods the garden of golden petals they fought in. The effect of Nurse Cap's attack seems to her favor and the witch seems to be defeated, or, at the very least she does not rebuke.

Nurse Cap

... ... ...

Taking a closer look... Nurse Cap had stopped the blade right before it was to make contact. One look at its position told the entire story... It would've pierced the witch's heart. There is no doubt about that.

Beatrice

... ... ...

Nurse Cap

... Magic... It's magic. The mirror really um, grants wishes... How could it be anything but, uh, magic?
The blade's blue sheen turns golden before it dissipates into small butterflies who all fly away. The witch falls forward as soon as the sword is gone, barely caught by Nurse Cap's arms before she hits the ground as if lifeless.

Beatrice

Haaa... Of course it is. As if there was ever any doubt at all...
The Golden Witch, formerly proud and energetic, was visibly drained of the energy she had moments ago. Her body seemed heavier, caving easier to gravitwait did i just hear a door creak?
