The multiverse is the place where everything happens.

History

Zillions of years ago, after Abraham Lincoln died inventing stairs (his skill level was criticized by an actor), his protege Abraham Lincoln Jr. realized that mixing laughing matter and poison together created a fluid that, when slipped on and down stairs, created a rift to an alternate dimension. Through much trial and error, Lincoln Jr. successfully streamlined the process by inventing the first portal gun.
