templatestyles are sanitized css and append .mw-parser-output to the start of every rule. Adding a background to a page is most commonly done by putting the whole page inside a div (which you don't even have to close at the end of the page, you can just open it at the start) and giving that div id or class a background image through the templatestyles. — Hi I'm Coppersalts 17:59, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
