100 metres

In athletics, the 100 metres is the headlining event of the entire program. In this sprint race, runners attempt to cover 100 metres in the fastest time. Winning the Olympic title is a major feat for sprinters, as they get all the bragging rights as the World's Fastest Man™. Currently, Usain Bolt of Jamaica is the world record holder. Noah Lyles of the United States and Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia are the Olympic champions, while Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson, also of the United States, are the world champions.
