Basketbaikal
The fastest sport in the world.
Basketbaikal is a sport, similar to Basketball, which involves throwing a horribly ugly nerpa around in place of the ball.
Rules
Due to using an animal, instead of a ball, the way you play is slightly different; you must carry the nerpa instead of bouncing it, and each basket is replaced with an incinerator. Every time a nerpa is thrown into an incinerator, the team who threw it in must go and grab a new one from the edge of the playing field.
However, throwing the nerpa around is encouraged, as carrying one for too long will cause its odorous gasoline smell to stick to you. Some professional Basketbaikal players are able to afford "Non Smell Gloves So Ha", a premium product which prevents a nerpa's disgusting gasoline from touching your hands.
Locations
The best teams are able to go play in the underwater Laes Corporation Stadium in Baikal City, located inside Lake Baikal itself. The most exciting games are held and broadcasted here, with millions of people watching from home and thousands in the stadium itself.

Incidents and controversy
Nerpirtis
Every year, hundreds of Basketbaikal players die from gasoline stink, as well as Nerpitis, a condition that is usually rare, but can be caught by holding any nerpa for too long.
The Basketbaikal industry spends half of their profits every year trying to prevent this, to little success. Sometimes, some of the best players catch Nerpitis and die horribly and slowly, which means they must be replaced. This assures that every team has a slow rotation of members over the years, meaning no team can ever consistently be the best.

Fur seals
Team New Zealand All Cement Blocks and Southern South Island Islanders did not sign under the PUSC (Phocidae Universal Sport Corporation), which means they don't have a PHD certificate (Phocidae Certificate) to completely legally play the sport BasketBaikal. Lots have demanded for them to stay, lots have demanded for them to go.
This situation is currently on fire, too much of them infact this text is on fire. To resolve the problem the PUSC have decided to open a poll for BasketBaikal watchers to decide these teams
