College football is like the NFL but hopefully less capitalistic and more passionate. The highest level of college football has 130 or so schools, but there are hundreds if not thousands more. Unlike the NFL, college football is rich with upsets and school spirit. The stadiums are incredibly large, reaching up to 107,000 seats.

The big guys

There are six schools that we call "the big guys". They are Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame. Of those six, three are in the SEC, two are in the Big Ten, and one is an independent school that is slightly leaning towards the ACC. Texas likely left the Big 12 for the SEC due to money. Other large schools like LSU and Clemson exist, but they probably aren't giving that much attention from pundits.

Upsets

As of now, Tarleton State have just upset Army, making this the first time this year that an FCS school beat an FBS school. This has happened before; in 2021, Montana beat Washington, while in 2007, Appalachian State famously beat Michigan.

In Canada

Barely any people care much about college football outside of homecoming.

Worldbuilding

College football doesn't just have to be universities and all that. In its humble beginnings, other institutions played with competing schools, and during wartime, bases had their own American football teams. Maybe in the near future, other institutions (such as YMCAs) and organizations can join in the fun. You can also imagine college football in other worlds, such as in Minecraft.
