Explain/Ashtonia
Ashtonia is a fictional country on this wiki created by the user User:BlakeIsHere. It is loosely inspired by another fictional country of the same name, where his OCs all (mostly) live and hang out together.
Etymology
Ashtonia is named after BlakeIsHere himself, whose real name is Lucas Blake Ashton-Milne, but according to the Ashtonian Universe canon, the country is actually named after an English landowner of Welsh ancestry called Johannes Ashtonensis. He was the patriarch of the Ashton dynasty and moved to the land that is now Ashtonia in the 16th century. Born John Owens of Ashton, "of Ashton" was his territorial designation, but he was known to many as John of Ashton, and so his name was Latinised as Johannes Ashtonensis ("John of Ashton"). Almost all of his male-line descendants use the surname "Ashton" or a variant of it.

Menai City
Menai City, the capital of Ashtonia, is named after the fictional capital of the other Ashtonia. In the Ashtonian Universe canon, the city is also named after Johannes Ashtonensis, who was granted the title of Vicecomitis Menai ("Viscount (of) Menai") while in England. The Ashtons still use this title today.
