Franz Okin (3 July 1883 – 3 June 1924) was a Baikalian researcher and author who specialized in studying the ecology and philosophy of Lake Baikal.

Franz Okin is his playful, joyful youth.

The term "Okinesque" is used to describe concepts and situations reminiscent of Okin's work, particularly Ozero (The Lake) and уродливый тюлень (The Ugly Seal).
