Gorillas are gentle giants from the jungles of Central Africa. They are the largest primates in the world, especially looking at the leader of the troop, the silverback.

Gorillas are often stereotyped as ferocious beasts (see King Kong), making them very misunderstood for being herbivores. But people are slowly but surely starting to realize that this is just a trope. They are actually very friendly to humans, as long as you keep calm. If they feel threatened, they will loudly and rapidly beat their chest. They won't attack you.

A good place to encounter gorillas is Rwanda, home of the critically endangered mountain gorilla.
