List of Super Mario games

There are many games within the wider Mario franchise, and it is the common consensus of most fans and official sources that there exists a "mainline" series of games that are sequels to the original Super Mario Bros. which is separate from spinoffs and side series. This list of games is commonly called the "Super Mario series" (even though there are many games containing "Super Mario" in their title that most would not consider part of this list.)

Despite general agreement that there is a mainline series, and despite the series being one of the most popular video game series in the world, there is no consensus on what games are actually a part of it. The Super Mario Wiki, Wikipedia, the Wiki Camp 2 Wiki, Nintendo of America, and Nintendo of Japan all have lists which differ in several ways from each other^{[i hope they Nintendo fix it!]}, and surveys on the topic show a total lack of fan consensus on the matter as well.

However, in October of 2023, youtuber jan Misali discovered the definitive list of Super Mario games, putting an end to all discussion surrounding the topic. In their video published May of 2024, they presented the umanbiguously correct 19-21 games:
