The Republic of China, also known as Taiwan, is a partially recognized country off the coast of the People's Republic of China. Taiwan has been populated for thousands upon thousands of years. Now, its main island is highly urbanized, especially in the western third. Taiwan has one of the world's most widely acclaimed high-speed rail networks in the world, shuffling passengers from Taipei in the north to Kaohsiung in the south.
