Diars like to eat plastic toys and also paper.

Why?

They were created around 1750 for fun.

It seems that Diars were created upon 1750, however this was several years before the invention of plastic, so it's unknown what they ate before its invention.
Whoa. Good point. Maybe just paper? I wonder if they evolved to eat plastic or just happened to be able to digest it? I'll get back to you on this one. If anyone else knows, feel free to add on.
It appears according to diarists that it lived on pages after the invention of the printing press led to an explosion of books (not literally, gunpowder hadn't been brought out of China yet) so that is one part down
