Explain/NPC Writing Tips

There are multiple notable NPCs on The Wiki Camp 2 that aren't written by a single competitor. This page aims to provide tips and guides to write these characters correctly.

Spike

Overview

Spike is an enemy from the New Super Mario Bros. games, and one of the Wiki Camp's main commentators along with Michael Bloomberg. While he constantly speaks in all caps, he's actually fairly laid-back. He forms half of a duo with Michael Bloomberg, acting as a sort of "anchor" for Mike's wacky antics, and allowing the group to stay somewhat grounded. He's also shown to be quite caring, having told Number One Pen that they can talk to him if they ever feel down, as well as having a large monologue on the ramifications of actions people do.

Vriska Serket

Overview

Vriska Serket is one of the 12 main trolls in Homestuck. She has a typing quirk where she replaces the letter "b" and eight sounds with the number 8 and typically multiplies vowels and punctuation by the same number for emphasis, as well as replacing vowels with "8" when frustrated.

Statler and Waldorf

Overview

Statler and Waldorf are two old men who, in the Muppets, constantly heckle the show they watch, and in The Wiki Camp 2, constantly heckle the Wiki they're on. In the Wiki Camp 2, most, if not all of their lines end with the stinger of them laughing, transcribed as "Oh ho ho ho!" This is a stark contrast to the time they occasionally end a scene with just the punchline of the joke, rather than laughing at it, be it due to them having things to do (such as watch the Muppet Vision 3D show), one of them leaving, or simply the joke being at one of their expenses.

Waldorf: "He can finally turn this wiki into a decent place as opposed to being a circus!"
Both: "Oh ho ho ho!"

Waldorf: "I recently approved a landfill being built in my neighborhood."
Statler: "What? Why would you do that?"
Waldorf: "Cus I've seen more trash in this category alone!"
Both: "Oh ho ho ho!"

Statler: "What matters to us is we're trying to crack the code and escape this dumpster!"
Both: "Oh ho ho ho!"

Waldorf: "You know, for a heist crew they really are something, alright."
Statler: "What, Ultimate?"
Waldorf: "Nah, I'd say mediocre at best."
Both: "Oh ho ho ho!"

Statler: "Personally, I don't care for puppets much. I don't find them believable!"
Waldorf: "I don't believe you!"
Both: "Oh ho ho ho!"

Statler: "I think honesty is always the best policy!"
Waldorf: "You believe that?"
Statler: "No I was lying."
Both: "Oh ho ho ho!"

Statley and Waldonf

Overview

Statley and Waldonf are two old men based on the previous entry, Statler and Waldorf. Instead of heckling the wiki, these two prefer to be absolutely incomprehensible in their ramblings. What is consistent is that their laughing is replaced with "Ah ha ha ha!" (or "Rattle rattle rattle!" if they are dead) instead of the typical "Oh ho ho ho!" and they do like to say "Can't say that I have!" as a non-sequitur. Ishmael

Olimar and Louie

Overview

Olimar and Louie are two explorers hailing from the planet Hocotate, who explored the planet of PNF-404 in the name of fixing a ship/getting out of debt/rescuing Louie. You can often find them on the wiki in various places, exploring many places such as damp caves, arenas, and ...seal hangouts. It is to be noted that Olimar may be one of few to not hate seals.

Louie is the one with the blue suit, and is a fair bit more foolish than Captain Olimar. He is driven by food, as shown by his piklopedia entries documenting how to prepare meals with the creatures of the planet. Captain Olimar, however, is much more humble, clever, and inquisitive than his brash assistant Louie. Olimar is driven by his love for treasure (like most Hocotatians) and his family. His inquisitive nature is shown by his piklopedia entries and ship logs, often questioning certain aspects of the planet like the creatures, treasures, and Pikmin.

Louie: "Why not? Why can't we use this Decadent Bomb? There's an Okinesque little creature asking to be blown up right there!"

Louie: "Grind into fine shavings, then add syrup, cherries, and other sweet ingredients of your choosing. Best served cold."

Olimar: "How unfortunate for this seal to be the last of their kind! They were truly an interesting species to document."

Olimar: "Oh, my! What frightening foes!"

Louie: "I say, these fights will be good entertainment to view from our ship."
Olimar: "Hmm... would anyone in the galaxy be brave enough to face them?"

Louie: "A fruit so sweet, it could be a dessert unto itself. Remove and discard peel and core. Slice fruit into small pieces and enjoy!"

Louie: "Inedible. Tastes like chicken."

Olimar: "This was the first object I found after crash-landing here. The Pikmin knew to pick it up immediately. Are they drawn to the Sparklium it contains, or do they just like picking things up? Who knows."

Olimar: "Looks like someone took a tumble here in the fresh snow... Perhaps someone else is stranded here! If anyone is reading this, there are several electrical contraptions in this area. I've buried something here in the snow. Hopefully it's useful!"

Olimar: "Deep in the cave I discovered in the forest, I encountered blue Pikmin. These blue fellows have something resembling gills on their cheeks, and they appear to be amphibious, surviving both in water and on land. The wonders of nature never cease to stun me, even in this alien land!"

Ravio

Overview

Ravio is a bunny hood-wearing merchant from A Link Between Worlds. He's the Lorule equivalent of Link, where instead of having his unrelenting courage, he has extreme cowardice. He makes up for it by being a friendly and reliable shopkeeper to Hyrule's Link, in fact setting up his shop right inside Link's house. This is reflected on the Main Page, where Ravio has decided to set up shop there as well.

Characters that are part of teams

Dante

Overview

Dante from the Devil May Cry series is a half-demon private investigator who was a former devil hunter and current ruler of the demon world. He hides his pain and hardened soul under a carefree, jovial facade. He's nearly always confident when facing against opponents, and is incredibly skilled with weapons such as swords and guns, using them to dispose of foes as flashily as possible. After realizing the Wiki Camp was infested by seals, he decided to go straight to their source: Damn seal.

Link

Overview

While there are many Links on the Wiki Camp, this one is the Hero of the Wild from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. He joined The Ultimate Heist Crew due to their reputation as thieves, something he can relate to. His unrelenting courage as a knight of Princess Zelda and in the face of Ganon has earned him the Triforce of Courage.

As a silent protagonist, Link doesn't directly speak in Breath of the Wild aside from short responses to NPCs. In fact, his selective mutism is a major part of his character, even being commented on by Zelda herself. However, his journal in the Japanese version does provide an insight into his thoughts.

Heisenburgy

Overview

Heisenburgy is the current mascot of Team 17. He joined the team on October 4th, 2022. His favorite drink is the Team 17 signature hot chocolate, which uses the best damn hot chocolate recipe ever concieved. His dialogue is often quotes from Breaking Bad made to fit into an object show, or object show lines made to reference Breaking Bad.

Jesus

Overview

Jesus is a Jewish preacher who is the central figure of Christianity. He taught his believers to love God and to love other people unconditionally, and also helped performed miracles like healing. He was subsequently arrested by the Roman Empire and eventually crucified. Three days later, he miraculously rose to heaven. In The Wiki Camp 2, Jesus is depicted as he would be in the first-century Levant—someone who fought for the marginalized.
