Podium (placement)

The podium is the collection of top spots commonly represented by gold, silver, bronze, copper, tin, iron, tungsten, lead, granite, brick, wood, hay, and garbage. Occasionally, hyper-1st place spots may be depicted as platinum, chromium, amethyst, and so on.

Falling one short of these spots is considered being podiumchote by many.

The plural of podium is called an alumni.

Once medals are presented, the national anthem is played.
