Timezone
A timezone is a defined area in space that dictates the flow of time within its boundaries. Though widely thought of as a legal or social boundary dividing time arbitrarily, in actuality the rate at which time progresses and passes certain points is altered in each distinct zone.
History
Timezones were first discovered in 1984 by renowned philosopher Rina Tennoji, upon her departure from California. As no person had ever set foot outside the Specific Ocean, information about the area outside was scarce and hidden among swaths of fictional accounts. As she passed through the edge of the Specific Ocean's boundary, Rina recalled that the waves suddenly stopped at an invisible wall, and I felt a bit nauseous as we went through it. Rina-chan Board says,
Her recordings and accounts of the phenomenon laid the groundwork for later scientists to research timezones formally.
Ough.
Known timezones
Currently, there are only five known timezones, but each has its own unique modifier.
Timezone | Abbreviation | Time offset | Modifier |
---|---|---|---|
Specific Ocean | SOT | None[1] | Sea level tides are more extreme in this timezone, becoming more pronounced further away from its center. |
New Donk City | NDT | SOT-04:30 | No matter what time it says on the clock, the sun never rises in this timezone. |
The Toy Where You Put The Shape In The Corresponding Hole | SHT | SOT×02:00 | The type of shape inserted into each corresponding hole corresponds to a different flow of time in this timezone. |
2000 | 2KT | SOT+2000 | Time flows normally in this timezone, except on New Year's Eve. |
Western Atlantis Time | WAT | SOT+2:30 | Pinniped are more commonly found within this timezone. |
Modern use
Scientific information about timezones is currently limited, as the field is difficult to research by its nature. However, timezones have been used by several individuals for advertising, computing, monitoring, traffic regulation, and various other unknown things.
Notes
- ↑ The Specific Ocean timezone is used as the basis for all other timezones, so it does not have its own offset.
