The mighty mitochondrion is a bean that generates the fabled, energy-packed ATP using aerobic respiration. This popularly makes it the powerhouse of the cell and an A-tier organelle, much like the cell's nucleus. It used to meander about on its own, but in the modern day, it is an animal cell organelle.
