<< Return to California (IRL) Though California's transit network isn't as dense as those in other countries, it is possible to cross the state without a car. This Transit Tour, inspired by a Lonely Planet book, originates in San Diego and winds its way up the coast towards Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. It would be faster if there was a more efficient railway network in California, but at least we have this.
Day 0
- Arrive in San Diego.
- MTS bus 923 to 2nd Ave Lofts Downtown.
- Food options include Morning Glory for breakfast, Hodad's Downtown for lunch, and GARAGE Kitchen + Bar for dinner, all of which are within walking distance.
- Oh, and did I mention Petco Park is sorta within walking distance too? If you want to relax while the Padres are playing, that's perfectly fine by me.
Day 1
- Walk to County Center/Little Italy Station
- San Diego Trolley Green Line to Old Town Transit Center (depart 8:15 AM)
- MTS bus 30 to La Jolla Tide Pools (depart 8:28 AM)
- Spend an hour or two watching the wildlife, including California sea lions and harbor seals.
- Lunch at Brockton Villa
