California (IRL)

For the real California, see California.

California is the southwesternmost-ish state in the United States. It feels like a dream from a Hollywood movie. Because that's basically where Hollywood is. It's got Facebook and the Silicon Valley Bank, national parks and highway underpasses for skate board, many restaurants (especially In-N-Out Burger), and wine made from farmers who unionized with Cesar Chavez. Good for him!

Things to do in California

  1. Run.
  2. Really, really fast.
  3. If you ever touch anything here, including air, run like hell.
  4. Hang ten, dude!
  5. Say hi to Curiosity.

Notable communities and places

Anaheim

Outside of Disneyland and TikTokConVidCon, this city just... exists.

Bakersfield

Barstow

It's got the first non-standard McDonald's, and one of the few still standing today. Other than that it's practically nothing.

The only notable thing here.

Berkeley

UC Berkeley exists. Other than that, I have no clue.

Burbank

DO NOT GO TO THE ABANDON BURBANK FRY'S I REPEAT DO NOT GO TO THE ABANDON BURBANK FRY'S

Carlsbad

It has a music museum that rocks.

Cupertino

It has Apple Park! Do you like iPhones and iPads and Apple Watches and other Apple stuff? Go here then, I guess. Oh, and it also had an infinite loop robot hand ice cream machine.

Emeryville

If a drunk guy tried rebuilding San Diego from memory, this would be the result. For whatever reason, the train to Chicago terminates here instead of San Francisco.

Fresno

It exists (debatably). It's a bit more inland. It was mentioned in that one movie with the seth rogan blob. Named for ash trees.

Fullerton

The train station there sees a pretty high volume of traffic. Also home to several unis and colleges.

Indio

It's got Coachella and Yo Gabba Gabba!

Long Beach

Very notable waterside city. Somehow, a British ocean liner is docked here.

Los Angeles

Hollywood basically owns this place. Lots of sports too, including an upcoming Olympic Games, and especially the Lakers.

Monterey

For the city in Mexico, see Monterrey.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must visit if you like aquariums without those damn seals. It has damn sea otters, though.

Oakland

Has plenty of problems. Some are serious and need to be fixed. The problem with sports... not so serious, but I still feel bad. The Raiders left, the Warriors (sorta) left, and the A's are on the verge of leaving too. Besides, what happened to their Coliseum? Check out Homeroom Mac & Cheese while you're here.

Oceanside

You can transfer between northbound Metrolink trains and southbound COASTER trains. Oh, and also SPRINTER trains.

Ontario

NOT a Canadian province.

Pasadena

Best known for hosting the 1994 FIFA World Cup Final at the Rose Bowl, as well as a large annual parade culminating with handegg at the same venue. Known residents include Single-Celled Cigarette. Pasadena is also known as the home of the world famous California Pizza Kitchen Make-a-Wish creation, the spaghetti pizza (discontinued est. 2007).

Redondo Beach

The Esplanade is perfect for skating.

Sacramento

The state capital. Has a lot of museums... and the Kings. And like, 7 of every store every block. Lavender District is cool tho.

San Diego

Besides the zoo, San Diego is notable for being right next to Mexico. Also Comic-Con International.

San Francisco

Very mountainous. Has a lot of "painted ladies", cable cars, a large bridge, and Chinatown. The invasive Cherry-Headed Conures live here.

San Jose

Why, despite San Francisco being more well-known, is San Jose the biggest city in the Bay Area? Well, because it's kind of the best one. There's at least one convention center and a Pizza my Heart, what more do you want? The Christian school near Campbell Ave gives away free goldfish every summer but you didn't hear that from me.

Santa Barbara

Spanish architecture all over the place.

Santa Clara

A little more Spanish architecture and, somehow, the 49ers.

Santa Monica

Has a very big and popular pier with an amusement park in it.

Stanford

CARY HUANG IS A STANFORD UNIVERSITY ALUMNI, FUCK YEAH!!!!!!

Tehachapi Loop

Here, trains loop over themselves. It's an easier way to descend the mountains rather than facing a steep gradient.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

Nyoom.

A motorcycle just passed by.

Travel

Transit Tour

Passenger rail

Check this shit out. /very pos

Important Note

It is vital for Wiki Camp readers to note that this is, as it turns out, bullshit. California is a series of small islands rather than a mainland state. We are currently working to eradicate these claims from the face of the earth, but not quite as much as nerpas so we'll like get back to you on that ig
