Emergency Alert System

The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a US-centric system used to alert the public of emergencies. Some alerts include tornado warnings, civil danger warnings, and nerpa containment breaches.
Similar systems exist all around the world, used for such things as "pretty please don't start a fire right now"
Scary
Along with logos, anti-piracy screens, and lost media, EAS alerts are among the scariest things imaginable. This is due to their foreboding minimalist design aesthetic, loud and shrill tone, and association with death and disaster. The shittiness of voice audio quality over radio is also a contributing factor to the frightening appearance. EAS was at perhaps its most scariest when there was a serial killer on the loose in America, who could not be stopped, and ended up activating nuclear warheads.
