Mascot horror is a subgenre of horror most synonymous with indie horror games based around, well, mascots of a franchise. Many believe that this subgenre began to gain traction thanks to the release of Five Nights at Freddy's and its subsequent sequels. As FNAF grew in popularity, other mascot horror games began to be created, such as Bendy and the Ink Machine and Tattletail and whatnot.

However, during the early 2020s, mascot horror has seen a shift in reception with the release of games like Hello Neighbor and... Poppy Playtime. As these games pander heavily towards children with its cheap jumpscares and character designs created specifically to sell merchandise off of them, many people have begun to see this subgenre in a negative light.

And then, on that fateful day... Garten of Banban was born. Many, and I mean MANY, saw this game as the absolute lowest of mascot horror. Many people tore this game to shreds with criticism from every corner. Yes, the merch button was one thing people blew their lids over, but it wasn't just that. Poor gameplay, lazy modelling, and terrible animation to name the three of a banillion. (This game is still peak, though.)

...Did I just smallingly call that game peak? Yes, people do indeed jokingly call Garten of Banban peak, mostly to mock it. It's a big thing, actually, alongside calling things mid.

So how on Earth is mascot horror relevant to The Wiki Camp 2 at all? Well, let me tell you about Killing God.

Killing God and how it stuck to its name

Killing God was just an ordinary page describing decide and how one can commit it. But its page author, User:Jurta, decided it'd be a great idea to incorporate mascot horror fanfiction somehow. This fanfiction, believe it or not, is the reason the entry got 7 penalties, with a poorly laid out Table of Contents and story to blame mostly. But it did kill The Divine Goddess inside, so it somehow lived up to the article's name..? Still, if reconsidered at the last minute, this monolith of meaningless filler could've given the entry a negative score. Ouch!
