first update and it's uh. a big one. shit's going on hiatus for the forseeable future.
why am i putting this on hiatus, you ask? it's quite simple really:
i've kinda made it a bit too uh. ambitious, i think. i'll still be updating the editor logs i put on sketchy's page, but for now it's gonna be the only thing updated until i figure out how to go forward from here.
yes, i know it's a bit of a cop-out to go on hiatus right after the first big thing happens, but you gotta understand that after writing that i got a big sense of "well, what now?" something i wanted wrapped up had been, and uh. i may have the biggest fucking lore doc for this, but at least half of it isn't even on the editorial column. it's bullshit like Depths of Lake Baikal or Aquamarine taking up about 20 or so pages of that.
is it my fault i went guns-blazing into something i didn't think so far on? absolutely. am i gonna end the whole story there? mmmmaybe. i don't know. there's a lot i want to do, but i'm not sure if i can execute it how i want to. but if i do end it here, i'll probably retcon the whole thing, and just have sketchy be another odd character in this wacky world. if i don't end it here, i'll probably still retcon a couple things. learning as i go with this.
so yeah, expect more stuff uhhhhh

heyyy it's been a while, huh? well, i've got a big update for ya!
i'm retconning all of the Editorial Column.
you heard me, i'm scrapping it all. i was planning on having a grand, big reveal of the retcon, but i just couldn't figure out how to manage my time to get that reveal out, so i'll just say it plain and simple.
so, what will happen to some of these characters? well, some characters, like Workshop and Sketchy, aren't going anywhere. they're pretty established as is, so chucking them would be pretty difficult and just not worth it. all the unrevealed characters (like Binder) are getting scrapped, as there's literally nothing to them other than a design or, in some cases, a concept. as for The Editor, she's getting scrapped as well. she's as established as Sketchy, yes, but she's so ingrained in the Editorial Column that without it, she's kinda just... nothing.
while Sketchy and Workshop may be getting out of this without being scrapped, that doesn't mean they won't change, of course! Workshop, design-wise, won't change, but in function, it's up in the air. i'll figure it out later. Sketchy, however, will get a much more drastic re-design. she'll still be in-tune with paper and what not, but rather than being stuck on paper, her body will just have a little paper texture to it, being able to stand on her own and walk around. ultimately this is for the better, as she'll be able to do a LOT more now. personality-wise, she'll get her personality from what i've always imagined her being like, so that'll be fun
i really hope you all can understand where i'm coming from with this; ambition's a bit of a bitch! if i make another story with my characters on this silly wiki, i'll make sure to make it smaller in scope to avoid disappointing anyone, chiefly myself. it's a bit of a bummer to spend so much time (and a challenge entry) to something that ultimately never finished, but it's a learning experience.
