The Red Shell is from many Mario games, they come from red Koopa Troopas.
History
Red shells first appeared in 1985 of course the first release of Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros
First appearance but were worn by Red Koopas, Red Koopas actually void falling off cliffs instead of Green Koopas who fall right off. Once in their shell, you can kick it and it'll knock out any enemy while sliding on the ground (of course until it hits a wall or brick of some sort). Be careful cause you too can lose damage if hit by it.
Mario Kart Series
The first ability usage, it's an item gained from item boxes, it can come in sets of three. Very useful item to get you ahead in the game
Appearance
Like a green shell , it's a shell but red
Ability
Similar to green shells, the red shell are able to hit an opponent in front of you
