Galumphing Figglebum
The Galumphing Figglebum is a creature that can be found on the planet PNF-404. Similar to the Bulborb, these creatures sleep often, but unlike the Bulborb, it is not because of a nocturnal nature. Rather, it is because these peculiarities are really tired all the time, similar to modern-day cats or sloths.
Battle
Upon taking any damage, the Figglebum will wake up from it's slumber, and begin shaking off the attackers, and it will start playing boss music. The Figglebum then puffs up, making it's body larger and more difficult to hit due to the bouncy nature of it. Once puffed up, it can either roll towards the largest group of Pikmin, or it will bounce around, crushing anything beneath it. After three cycles of this, the Figglebum will deflate itself to catch it's breath, making it vulnerable again. Once it has caught it's breath, which is usually after three seconds, it'll loop back to rolling and bouncing. If the Figglebum has reached half of it's health, it'll integrate a slapping attack, where it slams it's flippers onto the ground to crush more of your Pikmin.
Defeat
Once it's been defeated, it'll raise it's head and cry out, much like a modern day wolf does to the moon. Then it'll slam it's head onto the ground, down for the count. Standard boss defeat effects proceed this, such as the victory music and the little ghost leaving the Figglebum.
Usually, it'll drop two five-pikmin pellets and a ten-pikmin pellet, or a treasure, depending on if it is encountered above ground or in a cave, respectively. It's corpse has a carrying weight of 20 Pikmin, with a maximum of 35 Pikmin allowed to carry it. It gives 15 sprouts when brought back to the onion.
Tips
- Due to how two of the Figglebum's three attacks crush Pikmin, it's highly recommended to bring rock Pikmin to the fight, as they are immune to crushing attacks.
- Strafe around the Figglebum to avoid it's rolling attack. Strafing in general is a good movement option during this fight.
- When it bounds around the arena, look upwards to see where the Figglebum is at if the shadow is difficult to notice.
Trivia
- This boss fucking sucks, and is widely considered to be even worse than the Man at Legs, Segmented Crawbster or even the Emperor Bulbax (Pikmin 1).
