Harry S. Truman was the 33rd president of the United States, serving the country during World War II. This was a pretty big deal. In the subsequent 1948 election, the world was shocked when Thomas E. Dewey defeated him by the barest of margins, one of the greatest upsets in history to this day.
The railway car from which Truman made his campaign speeches during his whistle stop tour is on display at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum.
