Battle for Dream Island according to AI
Battle for Dream Island is a Chinese-American web series made by Michael and Cary Huang. The series stars 20 anthropomorphic objects battling it out for the prize; Dream Island. The series made it's first appearance at the Los Angeles Comic Con in 2015, winning multiple awards and nominations for Best Web Series and Best Supporting Actor, Kyle Huynh. The series is currently shooting its second season and plans to expand into an animated television series are underway.
The website for Battle for Dream Island describes the show as being "deeply rooted in [their] love for every aspect of pop culture, from manga to animation. Think of Battle for Dream Island as a crazy mix of the worlds that you love with things that are a bit different. We strive to create that feeling of nostalgia."
The website has had only a limited number of webisodes released so far, but more have been put in the pipeline for the future. The site adds, "We are still developing the concept for the series and are aiming to have the first ten episodes of the show on the Internet within the next year. Stay tuned."
Per source, the show follows the player characters from the video game, Mighty Switch Force! and their journey to play Dream Island in the end. As the Battle for Dream Island website adds, "a zany comedy of monstrous proportions will fill your senses with a whole new perspective on gaming, animation, manga and more."
The content is still in the works so it is not yet known how long the web series will run, but the website mentions that the webisodes are expected to be around 30 minutes in length each. Each episode will feature a different cast and showcase different creatures and players. The characters are part of a game known as "Test Your Might" and each episode will test their ability to compete in it.
The source also adds that the video games used in the web series will not be licensed. Instead, Michael Huang wanted to make something that used the characters that they are best known for, the characters of an online game called Mighty Switch Force!
Battle for Dream Island is being directed by Michael Huang. As noted on the website, "In addition to being the Director for the entire series, he is also the Co-Writer, Co-Producer, Supervising Sound Editor, Composer, and Character Designer of the series. Themes and background music for the series will be composed by the acclaimed music composer Fernando Alvarez, with lyrics and translation provided by Melissa Le, with the original music by Sanchez and Sons. Design/Animation will be overseen by George Hu, George Huang, Michael Huang, and Meng Huang."
The web series will be broadcasted on FanB.TV, the website reports. Michael Huang is also said to be working on a television series, which is said to be in the development stage and will take two to three years to be completed.
The site adds that Michael Huang has stated in previous interviews that he wants to make an anime version of the show.
Battle for Dream Island currently has its first season available to stream. The website has only four episodes, but more are expected to be released as time progresses. The first episode is free to watch, but the episodes are available to download with a paid subscription for $0.99 a piece. The money will be used for the additional episodes.
Webisodes, however, are currently free. As reported by the Inquisitr, each episode is estimated to be around 40 minutes long, and each is only available to watch for three days.
Mike Toole, an avid MMORPG player, praised the series as a "great first impression" and stated that "The animation is good. It's not the best it could be, but it's pretty decent. The characters are decent. They're all very different from each other. The sound effects are pretty good. The whole team does seem like they know what they're doing. They're being smart about it too."
