Hal Emmerich

Hal "Otacon" Emmerich is the creator of Metal Gear REX. He is a man of science. He loves robots and comic books and anime almost as much as he loves his husband, Solid Snake. During the Shadow Moses Incident of 2005, he met Solid Snake when Snake saved him from the clutches of FOXHOUND, led by Liquid Snake. The two hated Metal Gear so much that they made a Metal Gear haters' club, colloquially known as Philanthropy. He currently lives with his husband, Old Snake, and his daughter, Sunny.

Otacon has overseen the creation of many robots over the course of his career. Many, like Metal Gear REX, were created for war, but others were created because robots are awesome. The following are all of the robots Otacon is known to have been responsible for, but it is suspected that many more uncredited contributions of his exist.

Metal Gear BIG	Friend	Otacon did not create Metal Gear BIG, but he did reshape the course of its existence. He encountered Metal Gear BIG when he was nine years old. Metal Gear BIG, which had just fallen to earth from space, just sort of hanging out. Notably, it had a sizeable dent on its head. Otacon befriended the robot, showing it comic books because he's a nerd. In particular, Metal Gear BIG took interest in Otacon's Superman comics. Their time together was not purely idyllic, however, as a government agent tracing the series of incidents left behind by Metal Gear BIG interrogated Otacon and his mother. Fortunately, Otacon was able to take Metal Gear BIG to a junkyard. The two befriended the proprietor of the junkyard, Revolver Ocelot, who agreed to keep Metal Gear BIG safe.	The military eventually managed to track down Otacon and Metal Gear BIG when relations between the two temporarily disintegrated over a misunderstanding involving a toy gun. Otacon was harmed in the resulting scuffle, causing Metal Gear BIG to fix its own dent and realize its full capabilities in a rage. It began using its full defensive capabilities, including its Funny Laser, to attack the military, until Otacon tearfully reminded it that you are what you choose to be. The military decided to use a nuclear bomb to eliminate Metal Gear BIG, primarily because they thought it would be cool. Metal Gear BIG and Otacon parted ways when it flew into the nuclear bomb, destroying it in orbit. This saved Otacon from being nuclearly bombed, but also coated the Earth in a layer of radioactive ash and dust that still remains to this day.
Metal Gear MEG	Design consultation	Otacon's first role in the creation of a robot was as a design consultant for Metal Gear MEG. Metal Gear MEG was created by an alien supervillain who wished to destroy his superhero rival. It had a rudimentary system for locating and destroying this rival. When the superhero died in an unrelated incident, the robot was deactivated and left unused.	When the robot was reactivated for the final time, the alien supervillain had already gone through a whole character arc and decided to become a superhero, taking the place of his fallen foe. Unfortunately for him, Metal Gear MEG was unable to tell the difference between him and his former enemy. Metal Gear MEG attacked him as soon as it awoke, and he was forced to destroy it using his other gadgets. Otacon was never informed about the reactivation, and would not become aware that Metal Gear MEG had been destroyed until this information was uncovered through Philanthropy research decades later.
Metal Gear REX	Creator	Commissioned by Liquid Snake, so he could take over the world with it or something.	Destroyed by Solid Snake, who hates Metal Gear.
Metal Gear PRO	Creator	Created by Otacon during his temporary residence on an Arctic island. Capable of withstanding extreme cold, it sought to use gadgets from the island to upgrade itself and, presumably, take over the world or something. It also stole everyone's pets, which was very sad.	A penguin blew it up. All future creations of Otacon's have, thus far, been completely penguin-proof to prevent another waterfowl-related incident.
Metal Gear RAY	Consultant	The former President of the United States used this robot to make a guy really, really sad. Hauntingly, this series of events would later be perfectly replicated in real life.	The guy got better
Metal Gear Mk. II	Co-Creator	Created along with his daughter, Sunny. It was used so he and his daughter could teleconference with Solid Snake while his husband was at work.	N/A. Breached containment. Location unknown. Capabilities unknown. Reward for information.

Metal Gear T4B	Designer	Improves upon the design of Sahelanthropus, a Metal Gear for babies created by Huey Emmerich. This model is designed to be piloted by Untouch, the fourth sub-member of Top 4 Babies, allowing them to return to life and continue competing in the Wiki Camp 2. Progress has been significantly hampered by sudden and severe alterations to Untouch's cadaver on two separate occasions.	N/A.
