JOURNAL ENTRY 1

Here's how I ended up here.

I'd just finished volunteering at the local library, and was biking home. The bike I was using wasn't very impressive, having just a small basket at the back and a flashlight taped to the front connected to a solar panel I had hastily installed.

It was dark, so I had the flashlight on. I couldn't see much even with it at full brightness and I was going pretty fast.

I'd reached the more overgrown, less-populated area that I always travel through to get home.. the only sign of civilization were some old metal fences and a gravel road.

And that's when I saw it. A glowing, white rectangle. Looked almost like a portal.

I almost thought I was hallucinating. As I walked around it, it was clear that it was so thin it was almost 2D. No clue what it was or how it worked. It got weirdly quiet the closer I got.

I pulled out an old disposable scanner I had and held it close to the portal. It started shaking and making strange beeping noises... pretty sure it broke shortly after.

My curiosity got the best of me, and I knew I shouldn'tve, but I decided to try sticking my hand in. I should've thrown a rock through or something first..

My hand went through. It was hard to pull it back out, and when I did, it felt numb. I sat around the portal for a few minutes and decided I'd try walking in to see what was on the other side. Worst decision of my life.

The rest is like a blur, kind of. I remember the inside being pitch black, as if the portal was just a door with light coming in from outside, and starting to feel like I was lucid dreaming. I was falling and it felt like that for minutes.. until I landed on Rectangular prism. I remember almost immediately passing out due to the fall, though it didn't really hurt. It just made everything feel so numb that I probably died temporarily.

When I woke up, I looked around, and I swear.. it almost felt like I was in a 2D space. 2.5D, I guess. I still don't get how this works.

It took a while to figure out how to navigate between pages.. I got it, as you can see, but it was really confusing.

Now I've kind of been left to fend for myself. Whatever was on this page before me probably went somewhere to hide and die, so this is my hangout spot for now. Until I can find a way out.

I, uh.. don't think I can really fully grasp any of this. I guess I'm.. a "competitor".. really though, I don't like it here. I just want to go home.

The only thing keeping me going is the chance of finding an out.
