Israel is a country in the Levant. Though people have lived in the area for tens of thousands of years, the modern State of Israel was founded in 1948. The belief that a Jewish state of Israel should exist is known as Zionism. The State of Israel's establishment was carried out by the United Kingdom, which controlled the region of Palestine following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in World War I.

Israel enforces a segregationist system of apartheid against the native Palestinians.[1] It holds a blockade against the Gaza Strip and establishes illegal settlements in the West Bank.[2] The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has found that Israel is plausibly committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza following the October 7th attacks of 2023. It should be noted that almost half of Gaza's 2.3 million people are children. Israel's military, the IDF, repeatedly upload videos showcasing the looting and destruction of Palestinian homes.[3] High-ranking Israeli officials frequently espouse genocidal rhetoric. No hospital is fully functional in Gaza, and most are destroyed. Israel and Israeli protestors block or restrict aid from entering Gaza; starvation and disease proliferate the area. The IDF have repeatedly fired upon and killed Palestinians seeking to retrieve air-dropped aid.[4]

Over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since October 7th, 2023. From before October 7th to the year 2000, about 7,569 Palestinians were killed, including in peaceful protest demonstrations against Israel. During the start of the Nakba in 1948, about 750,000 Palestinians were made refugees, and thousands were massacred by Israel.
