La foca
La foca (Italian for "The Seal") is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, set to an Italian libretto by Teodoro Cafaro. It is set in Russia, where a group of scientists who recently arrived in Moscow attempt to do research in Lake Baikal. However, they are stopped in their tracks due to worries and superstitions regarding the local nerpas. It is one of Verdi's finest and most okinesque works and is sure to make the audience cry.
