Naples (Napoli) is Italy's third-largest city after the capital Rome and its fashion hub Milan. Located by Vesuvius and 35 minutes by car from Pompeii, Naples is well-known for being the birthplace of pizza. Football is another Neapolitan staple, and Argentine great Diego Maradona, who played for SSC Napoli, is hailed as a second god beside Jesus. Shrines to Mary abound in Naples' historical centre, alluding to Italy's rich Catholic heritage.
Neapolitan music has shaped the Italian scene for centuries, with countless classics such as the famous love song "'O sole mio" and the lively tune "Funiculì, Funiculà". It's impossible to leave Naples without swaying to an enchanting Neapolitan song.
