Peafowl are the avian representation of peas. After going bad, their phenotype completely changes, developing feathers, and in the case of males, known as peacocks, a train of tail feathers. The train of a peacock is very elaborate, with colourful spots reminiscent of eyes. It is used as a form of display, with hopes to attract the females, or peahens.
