Tastes are the elements of flavor. Every flavor is merely a combination of magnitudes of these basal tastes.

Tastes

The basic tastes all start with "S" which is just so awesome for a guy like me.

Taste	Explanation
Sweet	Sweet is sugary and saccharine. Things that are sweet are typically a tasty treat. It is the leader of the flavors.
Sour	Sour is sharp and sucking. Sour things, like lemons, limes, and sour candies, can be fun, but are usually just gimmicks.
Spicy	Spicy is singing and searing. Spicy feels like hot. It makes you sweat, which looks like sweet, but is pronounced differently.
Savory	Savory is satisfying and steaky. It is also called umami, like how people call it Dungeon Meshi instead of Delicious in Dungeon.
Salty	Salty is salty and salty. Basically just salt tastes like this. It makes you want water.
Starchy	Starchy is sticky and stuffy. It's in bread and potatoes. It's the filler arc of flavors.
So Bitter	Bitter is bad and bullshit. It is designed to be spit out, lest you be poisoned. Dark chocolate is a known poison.
So Minty	Minty is cold and chilly. It is the opposite of spicy. You may get a brainfreeze.
Stale	Stale is simple and sinless. It is the null flavor of air and water. It can dilute the other tastes.
