Ternary is a system of numbers based around the powers of three and uses three distinct digits (called trits); these could be represented with Arabic numerals as 0, 1, and 2, but you could also get creative and have them be , , and , or perhaps even a nurpoing.

Advantages of ternary over binary

Binary only has 2, but ternary has 3. According to the Law of Greater Values, this makes ternary the clear winner.
