Hiiiii hey! I think I'm gonna get really into toy collecting so I thought it might be fun to make a list of my toys and any info I can find on them.
THE TOYS
Plushies
- Donald Duck Plush: He is from a now defunct Disney Store. He's a decent sized fella, around 18" standing up (sitting is his default) and he's very soft! I spent $10 USD on him, and from what I can tell, he usually goes for a bit more (up to $25). My friend Kirby has a similar plush!
- King Dice Plush: He is from a now defunct Round 1. I played the crane game and got him off the platform in two tries! Much like Donald, he's very soft! He's about 13" and his jacket is removable. He usually goes for about $15-25.
- Keroro Plush: He is from a small convention, though I don't know where he was before that. He's a very small little frog (only 8"), and while not as soft as Donald or King Dice, he's still very comfortable to the touch. I purchased him for $5 CAD. He's a really good quality plush compared to some of the ones I see on eBay, but I can't find how much this specific one goes for. Perhaps it's a rare find?!
- Sofia Plush: She is from a flea market booth selling cartoon and anime merchandise. She is comically large (28") and probably the least soft of the plushies. Her head is fucking huge and droops all the time. I can't find a plush identical to this one on eBay either (many have slightly different eyes and noses), but it was definitely licensed by Disney (if even as a prototype). I bought her for about $6 CAD, and honestly, her being so comically large is worth it.
- Cassandra Plush: She is from the same booth as Sofia, though not as comically large. At only 18", Cass is a normal amount of tall. I spent $4 CAD on her, with her usually going anywhere from $10-$25. She is about as soft as you'd expect Cassandra from Tangled to be.
- Woodstock Plush: This one was crocheted by a local queer artist. He is very cute, and absolutely worth the $20 I spent on him. He's about 6.5" tall, which is about the size I think Woodstock would be if he were real.
- Dot Warner Plush: Purchased for $1.50 USD, this plushie was sold in the 1990s at the Warner Bros store for about 7-8 dollars, along with many other in a line. Other plushies included Yakko and Wakko, Pinky and the Brain, and various Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbera characters. The stitching is not ideal, and while it isn't uncomfortable, it isn't known for its softness. Manufacturally speaking, it's not a valuable item, but many resell this online for somewhere in the 10-20 dollar range.
Bendable Figurines
- Little Helper Figurine: He is from a kind fellow in Serbia if I recall correctly. Indeed I bought him for about $15 USD on eBay! Coming in about 12cm (a little less than 5"), he's the littlest guy I got! I love him a lot! He's one of those characters that makes me super happy, so I'm glad he's here. He also comes with a functioning lightbulb, though it may be difficult to replace the battery if it died. The Little Helper toy is originally from Poland around the 2000s and was only really selling on eBay around 2018-2019, so I think I paid market price.
- Dudley Do-Right Figurine: He is from a different booth at a different flea market which sold mid 20th century toys and games. I was really excited to see him in the wild, so I paid $25 CAD for him, which is around the market price for a figurine still in the packaging. Still worth it. He's a bit taller than Little Helper, coming in at 5". Another fun fact about this one is that he is 51 years old! The oldest toy in my collection. I am so scared to unleash him, but I probably will at some point, because it would be fun to pose him.
Coloring Books
- Hoppity Hooper Coloring Book: I spent a lot of money on this one. $40! But honestly? It was so worth! I have not seen any of this coloring book in full on eBay (just the first 25 or so pages for about $30). A few pages are scribbled on, but not many. I want to upload this one to archive.org when I get the chance because it's so cool, and possibly lost-ish? I just haven't lately.
The Following Toys Have Gone To Hell
Plushies
- Luigi Plush: He was from an XScape and was won off the prize wall. His overalls are green and his outfit is white. He's a little shorter than King Dice (12"), but just as soft. A pretty common plush, and was given away, though it is unknown who currently owns it
Beach Balls
- Kirby Beach Ball: He was from a night market stand that sold imports. Deflated, he can fit in a coat pocket, but inflated, he's about 12"! I may have overpaid a little for him, but ultimately, I did pay less than eBay price + shipping. He has a little stain on the top of his head that I've tried to clean, to some success, and he has been baptized. Kirby was also given away, to a little neighbor girl down the street.
Robots
Wishlist
Honestly I don't really have one. I'd love to find the Sheep in the Big City Subway toys out in the wild one day, so I can take one home. I'm also always on the lookout for Jay Ward and Disney stuff, even if I don't always buy them.
