heya future editors! the idea for this one is to a. actually just explain and have the reader learn about the wiiu. and b. VOILENTLY try to sell them the wiiu. either additions would be cool! but you can also do your own thing! ~~~Rose

the holy allmighty wiiu.

wikipeadea in toki pona wouldent let me use these diagrams i made.

wikipeadea in english is woefully useless in terms of describing the wiiu.

your about to learn a L O T about the weither you want to or not.

The nintendo . section one. processor.

released in sometime who cares, the was and still is nintendos greatest console.

made to sucseed the wii and gamecube, the packs many many unique features.

for example, it's multicore cpu.

diagram showing how the wiiu's cpu is just three of the wii's, and it's gpu is so large, that even when it contains the wii's gpu, it takes up only a small fraction of the total size!
the 's cpu and gpu explained. (translated from toki pona)

nintendo's first multicore cpu and first processor where cpu and gpu were on the same die, the packs ibm and amd's newest and finest.

when ibm made gekko, the gamecubes cpu, they added a few features in to allow it to do multicore processing. because ibm is so cool.

when it was time for the wii, Nintendo just took gekko and upgraded it a small bit, and sped it up slightly.

and finally for the , Nintendo took the wii's cpu, overclocked it, and chained it with two other copys of the wii's cpu. meaning that,

A. the has 100% compatibility with the wii and gamecube.

and B.the now has a 3 core processor. more than enough for most games. altogether, all cores run at 1.24 Ghz.

for the gpu, nintendo went with the same people who made there last gen gpu. amd.

the gpu in the gamecube, wii, and are made by the same people. and just like the cpu, the 's gpu contains a copy of the wii's gpu. and inside the wii's gpu, theres a gamecube gpu.

So the was not slow. it was also nintendos first to use a hdmi port.

why then can the sometimes feel slow?

The . section 2. three wifi chips.

unlike any other console ever, the uses three wifi chips.

more specifically, a wifi chip, a bluetooth chip, and the gamepad chip. speaking of wich,

the gamepad.

The gamepad.

for this generation, nintendo wanted to do something entierley new. never seen before.

they made wierless gaming.

the gamepad is a very advanced supercontroller. it is run by a very small embedded cpu, and mostly controlled by the .

it has : a gyroscope stereo speakers, a camera, a tv button (wich acts as an actuall working ir remote!) all the other buttons, a nfc reader, a touchscreen, a infrared bar for running the wiimotes, and a microphone. and all of this io is read by the internal cpu and is sent to and from the gamepad to the via a special wifi chip.

to stream video, the and the gamepad both have a video accelerator, and the compresses and streams video in real time and in 60hz just for the gamepad, while displaying something else on the tv.

the gamepad was also built by using clay! it was shaped using clay models to figure out the most comfortable shape it could be.

the gamepad can be used for many new experiences! for instance, in splatoon 1, the gampad has the map on it, while still acting as a controller. you tilt the gamepad around to move the camera on the tv.

it can also be used to play splitscreen games without the split! one person on the gamepad screen, the other on the tv!

another unique feature of the gamepad is it's use when the tv is not being used to play the .

the wiimotes from nintendo's last console can be used in conjunction with the gamepad's ir blasters to allow people to play the wii or on there lap. point the controller at the gamepad and your off!

this also works in wii mode. however most other features of the gamepad are shut off in wii mode for compatibility's sake.

so, to make all of this work, the gpu has to compose two frames. one in hd, the other close to hd. at 60hz. then encode one and send it to the gamepads wifi chip. and the other to the tv.

and it does this all while very rarely lagging. an impressive feature for sure.

speaking of the tv, lets look at some of those hd frames i promised.

super mario 3d land.

click the images to see the hd power of the .

pikmen 1

The . section 3 : an os of the gods.

the runs Cafeos. it is beautiful.

and because the runs data to the gamepad,

the tv, and gamepads speakers can work in tandem to make surround sound.

here is a demo of the os's first setup.

[1] can someone else cooler than me put this as an embedded vid please?

i cant really finish this bit till i have it all embedded but ill see what i can do.

Multitasking. a nintendo first.*

screenshot of the wiiu home menu.

Here we can see a screenshot of the 's operating system on it's home page.

an exclusive feature not seen even in the switch 2, is the ability to open certain apps while playing games! in the middle of smash bros, you can open up the

"wiiu internet app icon" internet browser app and look up something for your game!

you can also post to Miiverse during your game!

the switch2 dosent even have a internet browser! lol.

*the 3ds, wich launched along with the , also had this feature.

The . section four. gaming.

while turning on the just to bath in the holy light of it's magnificence is great, sometimes people want more. they want to Game. the of course, fruitfully supply's.

Formats!

remember how i said the contained an wii, wich contained a gamecube?

well! players can use a or wii disk to play there games!

the legend of zelda breath of the wild on wiiu

The new disks!

when the came out, everyone was starting to switch to these new fangled Blue ray discs. well, nintendo does what nintendo does and they MADE THERE OWN.

thats right. new format. "wiiu disk." holds 20gb! pretty good but later bluerays held 50. oh well. wii games held only 1gb and they had good stuff so it's probably fine!

Fan favourite! the Wii is back!

the can play wii games! actually

the can literally just become a wii! running the wii's os (plus a few things here and there) and thus playing the same games! stick in a game,

and off you go!

eee
eee

And the gamecube!.... r- right?

well... sadly no. the can play gamecube

games via rom, just running in gamecube mode,

but the disk drive dosent work with gamecube disks!

so you cant play them by default. sadly.

but if you use the super smash bros gamecube adapter, and use Pretendont you can play gamecube games just fine!

wiiu shop icon
The shop app!

the last place to get your games was the new and improved shop!

it's basically the same as the wii shop channel. not much really to say but it's nice that you can download stuff! some games used the full 20gb of storage so the internal storage fills up FAST! luckily for some god forsaken reason, the is able to interfase with almost any storage medium as long as it can hook up to usb.

heres a demo of the saving to a floppy drive!

yay! gaming!

Gaming with friends!

with the four wiimotes, and the gamepad, the can play with up to five players! some games support less of course, but most support at least two!

also, the wiiu featured FREE ONLINE PLAY. unlike the stinky Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. you could play mario maker, and upload your courses for the world to see for free! play custom levels! play mario kart 8, with your friend on the couch against other players around the world! for free! aint that cool? and remember! not a fan of the games? just play Wii ones in the 's vWii mode!

The . section six. misc stuff and hardware.

running outta things to talk about but theres still some more interesting things!

so! they designed the wiiu with one chip! remember? well this allowed a very unique cooling system!

diagram showing how the wiiu pulls in air from the left side, and pulls it out the back!
translationish : the wiiu gets rid of heat!

thats right! instead of, lets say the steamdeck's "" or the switch lite's "switch lite heatsync"

the fan pulls air through the console, over all the components, and into a massive heatsync block, and out the back. this allows only one fan to cool the processor, and all the other chips and things in the console!

also, something you should know, and that i wished i knew, is that the wiiu uses a unique maby fan style where the fans voltage is increased and decreased to change the fans speed. most fans on the market do not work with this! even the 5v noctua fan dosent work! be warned! your going to have to hack something together!!!

also the wiiu has an internal bunch of sensors, and will turn off if it's too hot! some consoles dont have this, and it's nice the wiiu does. also because of that interesting cooling system, the wiiu remains pretty quiet most of the time. . . sort of. the disk drive is SO LOUD tho!
