NerpaPunch is a fictional website and social media. It combines several facets of both old and modern web lore:
- NerpaPunch's culture is meant to resemble that of classic Something Awful and forum culture at large.
- NerpaPunch's "award" system is meant to resemble modern Reddit and the trope of certain websites having an abundance of reward systems.
- NerpaPunch's "package-tracking" joke is meant to embody the monopolistic nature of current tech giants, such as Google.
Awards
In-universe, NerpaPunch is meant to coexist with other social media websites, highlighting their posts and facilitating third-party discussions.
Originating on the wiki's Discord, it was a joke to reply to random messages with a non sequitur award message, or a highly specific award message. Once on the wiki, the joke morphed into the form of templates that could be added to the top of any page.
