It is May 2nd at the time of writing. Local time 01:13. It's much later than I thought it'd be when getting this down.

I have rarely felt it necessary to reread conversations, but today seems to be an exception.

Estimated time: 10:24 AM.

I had just returned from my morning routine outside.

Terra
Hi, I'm back for about another 20 minutes.
Terra
Apparently it rained a little last night. If you could add that to the spreadsheet, that'd be nice. I don't want to accidentally overwater anything.
Terra
Oh, I didn't see you were already working on something. Just get back to me whenever you make the edit, then.

Usually, I spend those 20 minutes preparing food and water for myself.

The past week, however, I've put that time aside to work on something I've had in mind for a while.

Granted, most of it was spent refining and testing it. It could've easily been done in less than an hour.

Though to me, it felt more important than it might've actually been.

Estimated time: 10:28 AM.

About five minutes passed. A long time for a simple edit, especially by her, but that's besides the point.

The Computer
👍

At that point I thought to myself that I had put this off for long enough.

Hell, most of my aforementioned testing was actually just making sure I couldn't mess this up.

How hard could pointing a webcam away from my face really be?

Terra
Oh, thanks! I really appreciate it.
Terra
By the way, are you busy right now?
The Computer
not rlly no
The Computer
actually maybe a little idk
The Computer
what was it
Terra
I had something I wanted to show you on the laptop.
Terra
Can you switch for a moment?
The Computer
uhhh yea hold on

She took another 5 minutes to get back to me. Maybe this would've gone by faster if I told her my plan directly.

The Computer
alright im ready

She did her thing before I got to plug in the webcam.

The Computer
hi terra
The Computer
so where was it
Terra
Oh, uh-
Terra
I need to plug it in first.
Terra
You'll probably notice when it happens.

I made sure the webcam was on the other side of the laptop before even reaching for the cable.

Pick it up, turn it around to face the rest of the room, plug it in, try not to worry about everything else.

The camera application opened. There was the inside of my home.

Terra
Can you... see that? I'm hoping it worked.
The Computer
holy shit
The Computer
u live here??

For a moment, I got scared that she was taking pity on my living conditions.

I've told her before that I live away from other people, and she seemed really interested in it.

I always imagined showing her would be a nice experience. I don't think I ever had doubts about that.

I've always struggled a bit understanding her tone, and even if it's only for a fleeting moment, I wish it wouldn't happen to begin with.

Terra
Yeah, I know it's not the greatest. I still thought you'd like to see it though.
The Computer
its fuckign awesome ive never really seen the real world for myself
The Computer
didnt u say u made all of this urself?
Terra
Most of it. Obviously not the furniture or appliances, but I did work on the home with-
The Computer
can we go outside
The Computer
terra can u take me outside plsssss

That's what I was going to show her anyway.

The camera started bobbing as I made my way towards the door.

The Computer

...I still don't know what that thing is supposed to be.

From where I stood, she was able to see all the garden beds, with the flowers and crops I had been growing for the past season.

She's never seen anything like it before. Most of her experiences with cameras have been in drab gray offices.

The Computer
this is so fucking pretty
The Computer
wtf
The Computer
and u just live here every day?
Terra
Yeah, but I guess it does lose a bit of appeal when you've seen it so often.
Terra
I'm glad you like it though.
The Computer
its so cool

The main thing I wanted to show her was the morning glory growing all around us.

They had been in bloom for a few hours. I would've shown her earlier if I hadn't woke up so late.

At this point I was more focused on how she would react to it than anything else, given how much the flowers meant to me.

My eyes were glued to the screen, pretty much.

I ended up hitting my foot on the corner of a bed.

I didn't trip, but it caught me so off guard that I jumped a little, and the laptop fell out of my hands.

The screen wasn't facing me when it fell down. I can't remember if the camera was pointed at me. It might've not even have caught my face, and I might be misremembering from all the stress.

I panicked. I was fucking horrified that she might've caught a glimpse of me.

I ripped the battery out of the laptop as fast as I could, and I haven't put it back in since.
