Artichoke

The globe artichoke is an edible thistle. Artichokes are edible when they are still a fledgling bud. Coming from the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, artichokes are among the oldest foods to be cultivated.

One plant can surprisingly produce up to 20 offspring.
