Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun in the solar system. It is named after the Roman god of the same name, who was Jupiter's son. Rusty, finely grained iron(III) oxide dust scattered across the Martian soil gives it its distinctive reddish surface color. Mars is home to the highest mountain and deepest valley found throughout the solar system. Its iconic surface has been turned into a chocolate bar.
Elon Musk once pledged to die in Mars, but not necessarily on impact.
