When placed at the ends of words, .
and :
function as normal punctuation marks. When directly before a word, :
marks a proper noun. When directly before a punctuation mark, .
means that the punctuation mark that follows should be interpreted as a punctuation mark and not a syllable. When directly before a non-punctuation mark, .
indicates that the symbol that follows should be read as a single sound in the IPA. So for example, yupekosi is written ".y0BHs
".
Example:
ijo Lipi li lon ma Jojalan, li moku e kili pi loje laso.
iJ :lP l R M :JY7., l OG e kl P ~y LS.
