[THE ZEITGEIST] (Japanese: ウィキペたん ヘアバンド), otherwise known as Puzzle Piece Hairclip or Puzzle Hairclip, is a fictional character created by BobTheTacocat and a competitor in The Divine Goddess' competition, The Wiki Camp 2. [THE ZEITGEIST] is an anthropomorphized version of Wikipe-tan's hair clip, and acts as an anthropomorphism and unofficial mascot of Wikipedia as a whole. Her goal is to win the Wiki Camp 2 competition and attain its ultimate prize.

Characteristics

[THE ZEITGEIST] is depicted as a gray puzzle piece with a hair clip attached to her backside. The hair clip is vestigial and is often unused, due to being a relic of anthromorphization, however is left in her design as a direct homage to Wikipe-tan[1]. She as often portrayed as a poppy, smart girl who is fascinated with the gathering and preservation of information about various topics. For this reason, she is very adamant about the virtues and usefulness of Wikipedia, and will strive to represent it whenever possible. Writing in an interview, BobTheTacocat stated that her in-universe birthday is January 15 2001, shared with the anniversary of Wikipedia's creation[2].

Appearances

Challenge One

[THE ZEITGEIST] was introduced in Challenge One, where she is described as determined to win the Wiki Camp 2 competition to represent Wikipedia[3]. It was later revealed that [THE ZEITGEIST] placed 5th overall out of 101 contestants.[4] In an interview following the results, [THE ZEITGEIST] was quoted as being "ecstatic about the high placement, and [she hopes] to keep the train going."

Challenge Two

In hearing the call for teams, [THE ZEITGEIST] decided to represent her research group at the Houston Omniversal Science and Technology institution. In order to reach an intended audience, she sent out information across "various spaces" until "people got caught hook, line, and sinker," as [THE ZEITGEIST] described it in a later interview. She would later go on to say that creating the team was "a bit messy [...] I believe I might've given a different impression of what my team was than what was actually there [...] of course, I'm aware that in my line of operations I function differently than most in the R&D and team building field, and because of that I was only looking for a specific type of character; but I didn't make that clear until I was asked about it. The team was eventually developed, though, and I managed to rope the type I wanted in, which is what really matters." Despite the hiccups, the team place 1st overall[5], which [THE ZEITGEIST] was "ecstatic about."

Challenge Three

While watching over the Edit War, noticing the creation of the Four Factions, [THE ZEITGEIST] hypothesized of two distinct possibilities regarding the Toba Tots® Transclusion Toy. Figuring that somebody should know about these distinct possibilities, [THE ZEITGEIST] documented the existence of a potential timeline split on the Edit War page. She received 17th place[6] for her efforts.

Challenge Four

In compliance with the challenge, [THE ZEITGEIST] decided to document the Wiki Camp 2 Contract system. [THE ZEITGEIST] described the system previously as "in my wheelhouse[...] less the actual act of completing contracts and more its mechanisms, incentives, prizes, and so on." [THE ZEITGEIST] has also described the contract system as "something that fascinates me." She received 6th place overall[7]. When questioned, [THE ZEITGEIST] replied that she was "happy to see that people are as interested in the system as I am."

Challenge Five

Out of the list of selected topics, [THE ZEITGEIST] decided to help with writing the documentation of the fictional Girl Host, claiming that it was "easy for her to create fake credits for a game after some quick research into preexisting titles." She received 10th place[8] for her efforts.
