House of Leaves
(Redirected from The house on Ash Tree Lane)

House of Leaves is normal book.[citation needed] It includes[1] an essay named The Navidson Record[10] written[11] by Zampanò[15]. It was edited by both Johnny Truant[18] and the mysterious[20] Ed.
Format
The book contains copious footnotes, many of which contain footnotes themselves, including references to fictional books, films or articles[25].
Text color changes
house of Leaves includes frequent and seemingly systematic color changes. While much of the interpretation of the choice of colors is up to the reader, several distinct patterns emerge upon closer examination[26]
The Plot of House of Leaves is very convoluted and hard to follow[38].
Reception
A 2013 New York Times article featured a conversation between Stephen King[39] and his son, Joe Hill[40], and made reference to the novel:
Legacy
House of Leaves served as one of the prime inspirations for MyHouse.wad, a Doom II mod revolving around a house that is constantly shifting and changing in unsettling ways, making frequent use of impossible spaces. The map was released in March 2023.[43][44][45]- ↑ Is it really right to say it "includes" an essay named The Navidson Record written by Zampanò? It comprises the majority of the book.
- ↑ It is just as likely Johnny Truant is an invention of the true author, perhaps Ed.
- ↑ It is more likely that Johnny is an invention of his mother, Pelafina H. Lièvre.
- ↑ Or maybe even Zampanò was invented by Johnny Truant[2][3].
- ↑ No record of the film actually existing has been found[citation needed]. It may have been invented by Zampanò[4].
- ↑ It should be noted that Zampanò was blind, and therefore could not have watched the film he was writing about.
- ↑ Not his wife, actually, not because they divorced, they simply chose to never marry.
- ↑ While he orchestrated much of the filming[citation needed], plenty of work was done by his wife[7], Karen Green.
- ↑ It's hard to claim that Holloway Roberts could take credit for any of the film, given his actions, but he did hold a camera.
- ↑ The Navidson Record is[5] a film[6] by Will Navidson[8][9] documenting the events that occurred in June 1990, inside the house on ash tree lane.
- ↑ Often it was only dictated by him, while he had someone else write it[citation needed].
- ↑ The peer review process highlighted a significant amount of errors and fabrications in all of his writings.
- ↑ Mr. Truant declined to comment further on this particular passage.—Ed.
- ↑ This is all inaccurate information, ignore it.
- ↑ Zampanò, known for thoroughly researched and peer reviewed work[12], has left a big impact during his career as a writer. He's been described as extremely attractive and good in the bed[13]. [14]
- ↑ A limerick, how interesting...
- ↑ p. 631 of House of Leaves:
- ↑ Truant is likely not really his name, as it seems to be in reference to a letter sent by his mother on April 12, 1988[17].
- ↑ If you ask me, It could've used at least five more.
- ↑ Ed, presumably, refers to the "editors." Why the book needed another editor[19] is beyond me.
- ↑ See: The Whalestoe Letters.
- ↑ As expected, no actual trace of any works mentioning The Navidson Record have been found.
- ↑ If the film was a creation of his imagination, why would he invent fake contradictions?
- ↑ Interestingly, in the book itself, many of the academic works[22] Zampanò cites appear to analyze The Navidson Record purely as a work of found-footage horror fiction[23], while Zampanò himself seems adamant on it's authenticity.
- ↑ One such footnote references Not True, Man: Mi Ata Beni? by Eta Ruccalla. Another references "All Accurate" by Nam Eurtton. Note that "Eta Ruccalla" is "All Accurate" backwards, and "Nam Eurtton" is "Not True, Man" backwards.[citation needed]
- ↑ In particular, the word house always appears in blue.

- ↑ Holloway's name is notable for resembling the word "Hallway"
- ↑ He only brought the light to take pictures.

Exploration #1
Holloway Roberts and his two assistants enter the hallway with Hi 8s, down parkas, hats, Gortex gloves, powerful halogen lamps, extra batteries, and a radio to keep in contact with Navidson, Tom and Reston. Navidson ties one end of some fishing line to hallway door and then hands the spool to Holloway[31].
Their flashlights find that the ceiling is at least two hundred feet high. There is a growl, and the walls shift, but they are able to return easily.
- ↑ See: the Holloway Tape.
- ↑ It seems his suspicions may have actually been accurate[33].

Explorations
Exploration A
Navy walks into the hallway with a camera,a pair of boots, and a light[30]. He finds that the hallways is only seventy feet long, but then he finds a doorway to the right.
It was not there before
Eventually, after losing himself in the hall, he manages to return.
Exploration #2
The day after Exploration #1[32], Holloway enters the hallway again, this time bringing four spools of fishing line, several flares, and some neon marks.
Though the exploration ends up lasting over eight hours, the team only hear the growl once and the resulting shifts are negligible.
Exploration #3
Exploration #3 lasts over twenty hours. Then men come back cold and hungry, their enthusiasm gone. They do not find a bottom of the Spiral Staircase.
Exploration #4
Exploration #4 was planned to last over a week, Holloway Roberts packing excessively, even bringing a firearm.
Soon, it becomes clear that Roberts believes there is an unseen creature roaming in the labyrinth beneath the house[34].
- ↑ How interesting that it appears in the "living" room. Of course, living room refers to a room in which you do your living, but it could also refer to a room which itself lives.
- ↑ Falsified?
- ↑ cont.
Plot
After moving into a new house in Virginia, Photojournalist[27] Will Navidson installed cameras to capture candid family moments. However, before long, they found a passage between the kids room and the parents room that could not physically exist.
Eventually, Navy invites over his twin brother, a longtime friend, and, at Reston's request, Holloway Roberts[28][29], to investigate[35] a new hallway in the living[36] room.
The Academic Work
A large part of House of Leaves consists of Zampanò analyzing The Navidson Record, often bringing up other sources[37].
Johnny Truant
- ↑ Ironically, Stephen King himself shows up in the book. His reference to House of Leaves seems to be strong evidence against its own truth.
