Aquamarine
Aquamarine is a crystal related to that of Turquoise, however it has many differing properties and uses compared to the former, more valuable, mineral. It is also the patron saint of those born in March.
Aquamarine’s name comes from the rich hues of cyan[citation needed] common to the mineral, being almost as bright and beautiful as the sea, hence the “aqua” and “marine” parts of its name.
Aquamarine is theorized to have split off from the main Turquoise conglomerate sometime around six million years after the big bang created our universe. Some say that this because it was a heretic, others due to how different it was gradually becoming. Either way, we’re stuck with it now, just like the hideous nerpas. Eughh, even just mentioning those ugly pinnipeds brings a bad taste to my mouth. Anyways, much like the confusing difference of Voyager 1 and 2, despite being younger than Turquoise, it managed to land on Earth first. This was not as violent as the landing that introduced Turquoise into the planet, but was still harsh enough to allow it to be embedded in the crust.
Raw Aquamarine is as simple as you can get for a crystal, it can be mined with a standard pickaxe, carved into jewelry, and be placed on tools for an enhanced bonus to the skill the tool trains. The real specialty of this mineral comes from its own enhancements; one can cook it in a cookery or refine it in a refinery.
Refined Aquamarine
Refined Aquamarine is a sight to behold, and can be a powerful bargaining chip for countries should they obtain lots of it. This magnificent mineral can be made into tools or weapons, and enhance them into powerful forms that can easily go for tons of [1] in marketplaces. Complete with effects, too!
Aquamarine tools and weapons can make many tasks trivial. An axe of Aquamarine can make acacias weep at just the sight of it. A sword of the stuff can make a soldier shiver on sight. And a- You get the point. This stuff’s powerful! It’s sharp enough to cut through steel, strong enough to withstand a bullet, and even able to enhance technology to unseen levels! Cooked Aquamarine
Cooked Aquamarine, on the other hand, is much different. It’s soft enough to be spread onto toast, and is incredibly dull. Slap some of it onto your toaster of a PC and it’ll just straight up explode. However, brawn is not everything, young reader. The pen is mightier than the sword, and this is proof. Eat some of this stuff, and it’ll make your mind as sharp as any tool of the like could be. It’s also really nutritious, as it can make even the most ill of patients feel young once more, and pretty tasty too. It’s as good as a cheeseburger from Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and you don’t say that lightly! Some of the best philosophers and , from Bernie Sanders to… uhhh… idk Nietzsche or something, have had at least one taste of this to be as successful as they are.
Artificial Reproduction
There is research going on to currently try and synthetically reproduce this gemstone, to crash the market, but currently all results are either duds, weaker than natural Aquamarine, or require more money to make than it would take to mine it naturally. Experts say it could take until 2064 to find a successful strategy to replicate the substance, and that’s the best case scenario. Worst case?
We can’t find a way to replicate it before it’s too late, and the best case is already dangerously close to that point. If it takes just 2 or 3 years longer to find a solution, tensions currently rising over Aquamarine could end up causing a 3rd World War.
