Early seal

Very hairy and scary!

The early seal is a now extinct species of seal that has evolved into the modern day pinniped.

Appearance

Despite what you expect, early seals were very small compared to their modern day counterparts. They were pocket-sized even! This allowed them to roll at astounding speeds. Perhaps the only thing keeping them from reaching maximum velocity was their burly coat of fur, which grew on every inch of their skin. Talk about itchy! While modern day seals are known for being able to withstand freezing winters, it is assumed that without the fur, the early seal would freeze and perish.

Lifestyle

One thing that remains constant between seals and their neanderthal cousins is their lazy lifestyle. Old seals didn't tend to move unless it was absolutely necessary. If you were to approach one, it wouldn't even give you the decency to face your direction. How very rude.

2023 Synthesis Attempt

Using a hair sample encased in amber deep in a cave in the Baikal Forest, scientists were able to revitalize the species successfully. The early seal clone was given the ID Specimen EA377B59-CB33-453D-A75D-C0F77A8B4340 and was experimented on to discover things about the prehistoric world. But after about a week, the scientists got bored of the clone not doing much and decided to sell it off to fund better experiments. The old seal clone is now owned by Mr. Incredible, who thought he was getting a dog.
