Appearance
Go Sign is a circular, bluish-green road sign mounted on a metal pole.
Personality
Go Sign has a happy-go-lucky personality. He can be easily frustrated at times, but is quick to forget and easy to cheer up. It loves new experiences and is always eager to try new things, sometimes to dangerous extents (such as joining a band of criminals because "he wanted to be open-minded").
History
The go sign was invented by Lord Calvin Klumpyan (Lord C. Klumpyan) in the year 2048. He had been driving in a suburban neighborhood for the first time, to a LAN party for Splatoon 5. Prior to this event, he had only driven on roads with traffic lights, and thus was unfamiliar with the functions of certain road signs. As he drove up to the stop sign, he understood its basic meaning by its simple message and red coloration, and came to a stop. He then sat and waited for the sign to turn green, but to no avail. Minutes passed.
Lord C. Klumpyan waited at the sign for 256 minutes before he realized he was running late to the LAN party. He grew frustrated by the long wait time, but—out of respect for the sign's sole request—continued to stay there until the sign changed its mind. 7,441 minutes later, he noticed he had missed the event entirely. Enraged, he stormed out of his car and marched home on his own. His car was be towed later that week.
Devastated by his experience with the octagon, Ol' Lordy Klumpyan created the go sign as a counterpart.to the stop sign. Its green coloration takes inspiration from the traffic lights he was familiar with (as well as a children's game, possibly). The metal pole it attaches to is designed to be either held for manual use, or attached to a mechanical wheel for automatic use. Its "mobility" compared to the stop sign further alludes to its function. Having grown a hatred for the stop sign's traditional font, the guy created "an artistic font that provides a more visually interesting experience," recommending that stop signs be updated to match. That didn't happen.
As it turns out, his car had broken down. Coincidentally, at the moment he reached the stop sign. He was never made aware of this.
Functionality
The original intended use of the go sign was to be waved in front of a stop sign (either by a person or by a machine) to indicate when the cars should move forward. However, this failed to catch on.
If one comes face-to-face with a go sign, the proper action is to move forward as quickly as possible in its direction. Continue to move until instructed otherwise by a stop sign. This has many applications, and more are continually being discovered.
- Pranks - One of the earliest uses was waving a go sign in front of a friend's face at an inconvenient time, causing them to sprint into a tree.
- Freeze Tag - Go signs have been used in Freeze Tag to force disqualifications on frozen players. This strategy was quickly banned from competitive play.
- Animal Control - From getting dangerous animals away from public areas, to removing invasive species by way of careful aiming, the go sign's effects have made for a polite and universal way of asking various animals to leave.
