Pearberry bear
The pearberry bear (Ailuropoda pirubacca) is a species of bear endemic to Pearberry Island and the island's only native mammal species. Its fur coat displays a classy gradient of pink and yellow, unique among bear species. Even the gentle giant panda, its closest relative, is jealous. The pearberry bear's diet mainly consists of pearberries, including seeds, for which its digestive tract has evolved to allow safe passage during digestion. A single feast may last up to 24 hours. Its natural predators include the occasional gust of wind, especially the pearnut whirlish's tornadoes.
Distribution
As the only native mammal species on Pearberry Island, pearberry bears can be found on the highlands, feasting on pearberry groves. They are a rare sight, however, as only the tracks have been documented as of now.
Conservation
There are only four pearberry bears on the island, worrying the local biologists. Luckily, the population remains stable. The mother gives birth to around four cubs at a time, though many cubs sadly get blown away by the island's infamous gusts of wind.
