The humble turkey is a stylish bird that clumps together in large groves. Males have a distinct wattle and tail feathers that work like a peacock's. In the United States, turkeys are the staple of Thanksgiving. Despite the name, they are not Turkish.

In Turkish and French, they are known as hindi and dinde respectively, though they are not Indian. In Dutch, they are known as kalkoen, though they are not from Kolkata. In Portuguese, they are known as peru, though they are not Peruvian.

On 24 November 2022, a picture of a strutting Rio Grande wild turkey became Wikipedia's picture of the day.
