Carnivorans are a widely distributed and diverse order of carnivorous terrestrial mammals in the order Carnivora. They can be divided into caniforms (such as dogs, bears, raccoons, weasels, and seals) and feliforms (such as cats, hyenas, mongooses, and civets). Their carnivorous nature gives them their name.

Carnivorans comprise the fifth-largest order of mammals, with 279 species. That number is expected to decrease to 245 upon the achievement of total seal extinction, and further to 182 upon the achievement of total weasel extinction.
