Jack Smack

Jack Smack is a sim created by Cary Huang last modified on the 2nd of February 2006 at 7:11:04 PM. It was originally a different sim created by Michael, but Cary wrote over the file with the version of Jack Smack we know today. The old version featured Jack from jacknjellify smacking against a brick wall in addition to a pie by the brothers' memory.[1] The modern Jack Smack sim features some unknown Jack walking to the right and interacting with various objects that affect Jack's movement.

Objects

Wall

The wall is located at the coordinates 11,14 and extends one tile lower at 11,15. The wall is half a tile wide by two tiles tall and appears to be made of bricks of some sort.

Jack's interaction with the wall seems to be the namesake of Jack Smack; when the game starts up Jack is placed to the left of the wall facing it and attempts to walk forward, but every time smacks into the wall and is pushed back. Jack however, never learns and continues to try walking into the wall.

Small magnet

The small magnet is horseshoe magnet that takes up one tile, and moves along a path from 10,0 to 10,15. When it reaches the end of its path it will jump back to its starting location, however, if it is above Jack it will move in the opposite direction until Jack is no longer within reach of the magnet.

The small magnet carries Jack over the wall he smacks into. While he still attempts to move forward, the magnet is strong enough to pull him back and prevent him from straying too far. Though at a seemingly random point Jack is able to break free of the magnet; sometimes bringing him to the large magnet.

Large magnet

If jack gets high enough with the small magnet he may reach the large magnet. While Jack may be able to get further to the right on his own, the large magnet simply makes it easier for him. The magnet appears to be another horseshoe magnet that takes up an area of 16 tiles, and unlike the small magnet it does not move.

The large magnet may possibly have hidden moving parts that allow it to move Jack to the right and drop him, as typically magnets do not posses the ability to accelerate objects along their surface and out of their reaches like this (if the magnet in game were in fact just a static permanent magnet it could result in a perpetual motion machine). Or perhaps Jack is the one moving to allow this to happen; moving the magnetic parts of himself in a way that allows him to walk along the surface of the magnet. Whatever the case, the effect is the same; Jack gets moved further to the right and falls back to the ground to continue his journey.

UFO

The UFO is a one tile object that appears to be what most people would call a "UFO" even if it is not technically classified as one. It moves from the location 3,14 to 3,15 at regular intervals.

When approaching the UFO from the left, Jack can duck down and walk below it. When landing on it from above however, Jack is pushed to the right.

Trampoline

The trampoline is a brown object that functions as a trampoline. It takes up one tile at 5,13 and does not move. Jack has a chance of jumping when one tile to the left of the trampoline. When landing on the trampoline Jack will bounce all the way to the top of the stage.

Grey block

The grey block takes up one tile at 0,3 and does not move. When Jack is within a few tiles to the right of the block he is pulled to the left by some unknown force. When Jack hits the block, the text "WIN" appears on it. After winning, Jack goes underneath the block and falls down.

Controls

Jack smack has no controls.[2]
